What is a Sequin?
A sequin was traditionally known as an embroidery product on elaborate dance, bridal and evening wear. Typically it was a round piece of material sewn through the center onto the garment as shown in the picture below left. Below right is the new look that is heat pressed onto the garment in 10-12 seconds and NOT sewn on (see left picture)!

How is a Sequin Made?
A sequin transfer is basically the same as a rhinestone heat transfer. A sticky transfer paper runs through the sequin machine and one or all four heads have a punch that stamps the polyester colored material onto the sticky paper leaving the glue side up. It is this glue side that will adhere to the garment and last the life of the garment, usually longer lasting that a traditional rhinestone or nailhead heat transfer!
What Shapes does it come in?
Below are many of the shapes that are currently available, currently there are more than 40 with new ones being added all the time. Custom shapes can be ordered at any time.

How Many shapes can I do on a transfer at a time?
You have 4 heads of which you can use any shape, size or combination of both up to 4 per transfer run. See samples of combinations below. These are just a few, it’s basically limited to your imagination.
How Many colors can I do on a transfer at a time?
There are a multitude of colors but you can choose up to 4 shapes and 4 colors at a time or any combination as long as its 4 or under! Don’t forget that the sequin spools themselves come in materials that alternate in color as you use it up. (see picture just above on the left)
What Colors does it come in?
There are more unique colors to select than for rhinestones. You can also choose from various holographic patterns to color variable materials that change every few inches and ensure EVERY design is different.
How Fast is the Sequin Machine?
The Sequin Endless Machine has been in use in Europe in production format for more than 15 years but only now that there is a strong base of Rhinestone machines and Rhinestone demand has it been released to the public!
It is the exact same technology that is used by leading transfer makers and suppliers in Austria and around the world. Our close working relationship between these suppliers give you the confidence you need to offer large run production to your clients.
The Sequin Endless is the only transfer making machines in the world that can run 24 hours a day 7 days a week in production environments.
Frequently Asked Questions on the New Endless Sequin Machine:
How often do you have to sharpen the stamping dies?
This question is difficult to answer. It depends how often you use the same die. Normally it’s enough if you sharpen a die once in 2 years. The small dies maybe once in 1 year.
How much does it cost?
$100-$150, you need to simply let us know a day or two in advance and send it in by courier and we will return the n 48 hours! If you use specific ones 90% of the time, then simply have a spare one on hand so you don’t have to worry about production stoppage.
Do we ship them to Austria for sharpening?
No, that can be done here in USA or Canada.
How many dies come with the machine?
6 dies, you can choose which shapes you want.(see below)
Does is use the silicone or acrylic transfer paper?
Booth possible, we recommend light glue transfer paper/ acrylic for this application.
How much does the sequin foil tape cost?
Below is the direct pricing from the factory in Euro Nov 2006 less the shipping charges to your door. You can use this link for a quick conversion price from EURO to CAD or USD www.fxtop.com

Prices listed in Euro and subject to change without notice!
How come it does not cut the transfer paper when stamping out or cutting the sequin shape?
There is a stopper to prevent this from happening, remember that this technology has been in use in production for more than 15 years at the factory and we are only now releasing a machine to the public. Its tried, tested, proven and reliable!
How soon is one ready from the date you receive the deposit?
Typically anywhere from about 1-5 weeks plus shipping time from the date we receive a deposit. This machine might not fit on just any airplane so it may need to be shipped to a larger airport first instead of to the local Austrian airport.
How similar or different is the software compared to the Libero machines?
In terms of design from the Crystal CAD software is identical. From the machine operation software it’s nearly the same as the Libero Machine software and built on the same premise so it’s easy to learn the intricacies. If you already are using Crystal CAD you just need to update your symbol library with the shapes in it.
Is it easier or more difficult to run than a Libero?
It’s nearly the same… you can’t compare the steps for adjustment because no hoppers exist. So essentially there are many similarities in software and procedure but it’s a slightly different in process. It’s certainly not any harder that’s for sure and it runs with literally no attention required and it has virtually no quality control issues so any current Libero operator can add this to their job description and you DON’T need to hire another person. With the Libero machines it’s easy to have one person run 2 or 3 or 4 endless machines!
Who are my choices (suppliers) when it comes to ribbons for this machine?
Honestly we didn’t source any more alternatives than what we offer because we only test what is tested and proven. With more than 12 years of using certain reliable suppliers that have a proven history and track record with us, why switch to save a few cents per roll of sequin foils at the risk of it not performing after being washed etc. As long as we have a great relationship with a company that has inventory and is reliable we won’t mess with it if the numbers/profit are there!
Is there any issue from the manufacturer in using the after market ribbons?
As stated above but in different words, I don’t think it’s any different than the principle of using different stone suppliers on the Libero. At the end of the day I don’t screw around with what works. If it works and you have 100%, 200%, 300% profit then why bother. If you save 10% or 3 cents per meter and a meter yields say 400 hits so each hit/sequin costs you $0.00125 and you want to save an additional $0.0000375 per hit at the risk of it not lasting as long, coming off sooner, taking 2-5 seconds more to press on the shirt because the glue is cheaper?
If that’s the case then quite frankly you are penny wise and pound foolish as they say. You need to weigh out the risk of potentially loosing that account and if it’s really worth it? That’s only my opinion but it’s my core philosophy. It’s what got me to this point successfully in the automotive industry and the aircraft industry and the textile embossing industry so far.
How long is the warranty with the machine?
1 Full Year parts & labor. I can tell you now that 92% of your issues will come from user issues and can be resolved on the phone or by remote PC software that we use, so its as if our tech was on site but without the cost and time delay. Simple stuff like not following procedure, putting two symbols on top of each other in the software etc. are what we see the most of. The sequin machine has fewer issues than the Libero because of the nature of the process, less moving parts and a 100% consistent product unlike the various stone qualities!
Does the warranty get affected when the aftermarket ribbons are used?
Your stamping dies will need to be re-sharpened depending on use. This will cost you about $100-$150 depending on the shape. If the product is similar there is no issue. But that does not guarantee that the cheaper ribbon or the alternative ribbon source provides you as good an end product/result. Remember that right now you have the advantage of being the first, being a leader and you have a full pallet of color choice and you are the only source for this!
I need a complete line of color choices in ribbons.

How many types of fabrics can take the temperature needed to fix a sequin properly to the garment?
Use the same rules you do for heat transfers you are now selling. What I can tell you is that materials that have a silicone in them to repel water or things like glass surfaces won’t accept work. The glue on the sequins is the same or better than the one on the stones. Better because it’s a more consistent product to apply it on as the ribbon is run through a process and a little crystal is manipulated differently and doesn’t always get the same coverage as a ribbon. In other words the ribbons are processed using technology similar to that of printing presses etc. So it’s tried, tested and proven and sticks better than the rhinestones.
What is cost transfers paper?
One 100 meter roll is around $95 USD depending on the currency exchange at the time of purchase plus shipping to your door!. There are discounts for quantity. So the cost is going to be no higher than $0.275 US per square foot or $0.0003 per square centimeter.
